Painter是加拿大著名的图形图像类软件开发公司Corel制作的一款功能极其强大的图形处理软件，广为国外的艺术家采用，并作为替代传统绘画工具创作的一个软件，逐步为更多的人所了解。
Painter的绘画效果与传统绘画工具的绘画效果极为相似，而且其相当多的性能都较传统的工具有所提升。例如，在使用传统画具绘制传统水彩画时，需要等待水彩变干，时间较长，而在软件里只需要很短的时间，通过一个命令即可达到相仿的效果；而且，用户还可以通过设置选项来控制水彩颜料的走向、数量。可以说，该软件提高了人们对绘画操作过程、颜料及效果的掌控，让艺术创作变得更为可控。虽然这在一定程度上加大了艺术的人为控制痕迹，但无可否认的是，Painter能够运用类似传统画具的工具和命令制作出与传统绘画效果相仿的艺术品，一定程度地提高某些艺术的完美特性。这为一些绘画功底稍差的人提供了技术上的支持，弥补了他们功底的不足，圆了他们的艺术之梦。而且，Painter在一定程度上，帮助艺术家们打破了“绝世”、“独版”作品的束缚；借助电脑及打印等各种手段，他们可以将作品复制出多个品质完全一样的副本。
